Dr. Hu is a veteran in semiconductor industry with more than 30 years experience in the fabless design house and foundry businesses. Prior to joining NeoEnergy, Dr. Hu served as Chairman and CEO of UMC , the second largest semiconductor foundry in the world. During his five years tenure in UMC, Dr. Hu turned around the company and achieved significant growth annually.

Dr. Hu has served in a number of influential industry positions during his long career, including the president and CEO of SiRF technology, a fabless communications IC and IP (intellectual property) company focusing on location technology based on Global Positioning System (GPS). Dr. Hu also served as Senior Vice President and general manager of S3, and helped to grow the company into an industry leader with 35 percent market share in the graphics processor business. Dr. Hu’s other significant accomplishments include co-founding IC Ensemble, a fabless IC design house that focuses on audio controller products, which was later acquired by Via Technology in 2000. He had co-founded Verticom, a company that developed PC graphics cards and later acquired by Western Digital in 1988.

Dr. Hu earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University and his master's and doctorate degrees in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He later earned an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Dr. Wei-Chan Hsu, Senior VP of Enigneering

Dr. Hsu has more than 25 years of experience in integrated circuit product development and strong technical background in analog, mixed-signal, DSP, and communications systems. Prior to joining NeoEnergy Microelectronics, Dr. Hsu served as Senior Vice President of Advanced Product Development in ForeMedia where he defined the architecture and the implementation of ForteMedia’s digital microphone (DMIC) ICs for small array microphones , which are widely adopted by major PC makers in the world.
In 1997, Dr. Hsu co-founded IC Ensemble, a fabless design company focuses on the high-end audio market, and served as its CEO. The company was later acquired by VIA Technologies in 2000. Prior to IC Ensemble, Dr. Hsu served as the VP of Analog design at S3, a leading PC graphic chipset and software provider. While at S3, Dr. Hsu was one of the key contributors to grow the company into the market leader with 35% market share. He had also held various design and management positions at Winbond, VIA, AT&T Bell Labs and Texas Instruments.

Dr. Hsu received his BS in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, followed by a Ph.D in Physics in from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds 15 US patents.
